Couples Therapy in San Diego

Helping couples move from conflict to connection.

After another painful argument, you lie awake wondering how things got this hard.

Maybe you keep having versions of the same fight. One of you wants to talk while the other shuts down or pulls away. Maybe you've stopped bringing things up because it never seems to go anywhere. You may feel more like roommates than partners. Or, maybe something has happened that has shaken the trust between you.

You both want things to be different. You just don't know how to get there anymore.

Neither of you is the problem. The cycle between you is.

When couples get stuck, it can become harder and harder to see what's happening underneath the arguments. The more one of you reaches, criticizes, or pushes for change, the more the other may shut down, defend, or pull away. Before long, both of you are reacting to each other in ways that leave you feeling even more disconnected.

In therapy, we'll slow those moments down so you can begin to understand what's happening between you—and what each of you is really trying to communicate.

As those patterns become clearer, you can start responding to each other differently, rebuilding trust and creating the kind of relationship you've been longing for.

About Anna

My job isn't to decide who's right or wrong.

Beneath the criticism, anger, withdrawal, and conflict, there is usually something much more vulnerable—hurt, fear, loneliness, or a longing to feel important to the person you love.

My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I don't take sides. I help both of you slow things down, understand what's happening underneath the conflict, and find new ways to reach each other.

Both of your experiences matter. Therapy becomes a place where we can understand the relationship rather than decide who is right.

Yes. Healing after betrayal is one of the most difficult things a couple can go through. I provide a safe, structured space to process what happened, rebuild trust, and decide together what you want your relationship to look like going forward.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach grounded in attachment science. It focuses on the emotions and needs underlying patterns of conflict or distance, helping couples and individuals create lasting emotional safety and connection. EFT has one of the strongest research bases of any couples therapy model.

Discernment counseling is a short-term process for couples where one or both partners are uncertain about the future of the relationship. It's not couples therapy — it's a structured way to slow down, gain clarity, and decide whether to work on the relationship, separate, or take more time to decide.
